It started with a simple frustration. Standing in a Norwegian store, reading label after label of polyester, nylon, and synthetic blends, and wondering why something so close to your skin should be made of plastic.

That question became Amor Fati.

What we found

Around 80% of underwear sold in Norwegian stores is made from synthetic materials. They don't breathe. They trap heat and moisture against the body, and for many people, they irritate skin that's already sensitive. It's a strange thing to accept as normal for a garment you wear every single day.

We wanted something different: cotton underwear that's genuinely good for your skin, made by people who are treated fairly, without the markup of a luxury label or the corners cut by fast fashion.

The cotton

Every piece is made from 95% OEKO-TEX® certified cotton with 5% elastane for shape and stretch. OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 means the fabric has been independently tested and verified free from harmful substances, one of the most rigorous textile certifications in the world. It's a detail most underwear brands don't bother with. We think it should be the standard, not the exception.

The atelier

Our underwear is produced in a small, women-led atelier in Istanbul. We chose this partner deliberately. Not a large factory, not mass production, but a workshop where quality, craft, and fair working conditions come first. Turkey has a long history of textile excellence, and it shows in the stitching and the finish of every pair.

Why the name

Amor Fati is Latin for "love of fate." It's an old idea, one the Stoics and later Nietzsche wrote about: the practice of accepting what life brings, the difficult chapters as much as the easy ones, and finding a way to embrace them rather than resist them.

We liked the idea of naming a brand after something so quietly resilient. Underwear is the most personal thing you wear. It felt right to put a little of that philosophy into it.
